APPLICATION DETAIL
Floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) installations and offshore platforms expose cable jackets to oil and drilling fluids as well as weather. A mud-resistant offshore cable needs specific evidence; oil resistance alone does not establish drilling-fluid resistance. NEK 606 and SHF2 requirements are useful specification points to discuss for the selected construction.
Offshore specifications may call for Ex-zone data cable, fire-resistant communication circuits or floating and neutrally buoyant designs. State the hazardous-area installation requirements and any required circuit-integrity test, including PH 180 where specified. We can review the cable, glands, terminations and approval documentation together.
